Bulldozer runs on 1000 crore studio in Mumbai, big budget films like Ramsetu and Adipurush were shot here
The BMC fired a bulldozer on Friday morning at an illegal studio built on the seashore in Mumbai’s Madh area. The matter was complained by BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya. He alleged that this illegal studio was built on the instigation of former ministers Aditya Thackeray and Aslam Sheikh.
Spread over 5 lakh square feet, this hi-tech studio was built in the year 2021. About one thousand crore rupees were spent in making it. Many big budget films like ‘Ramsetu’ and ‘Adipurush’ were shot in it. The budget of Ramsetu is said to be 150 crores and the budget of Adipurush is said to be 600 crores.
Somaiya’s allegation- The studio was built on the instigation of Aditya and Aslam
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya visited the studio at around 11 am. During this, he told the media that the monument of corruption of the Thackeray government was destroyed today. He said that this studio, built illegally on government land, was built on the instigation of former ministers Aditya Thackeray and Aslam Sheikh. We were fighting against this construction for two years.
What is the whole matter?
Kirit Somaiya had demanded BMC to demolish 49 illegal studios and 22 illegal bungalows in Malad. However, no action was taken against them. Somaiya alleges that the then ministers and officers had turned a blind eye to the matter. Permission was also not taken from the municipality while making the studio. After this, illegal constructions were also done around the studio.
Thackeray’s Studio Mafia
Kirit Somaiya said that this studio is a part of the studio mafia of the Thackeray government. Dozens of other studios were built alongside this studio in 2021. We have been fighting a legal battle against the studio mafia for two years. Eventually it was demolished by court order. Our war against other illegal constructions will continue.

Before the studio was demolished, Kirit Somaiya had said in a tweet on Thursday that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) today ordered the demolition of an unauthorized studio worth Rs 1000 crore in Madh. Dozens of unauthorized studios were built in 2021 by the grace of Aslam Sheikh and Aditya Thackeray. We went to court regarding this.
There were disputes regarding Ramsetu and Adipurush
There were many controversies regarding Akshay Kumar’s film Ram Setu and Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon starrer film Adipurush. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had said about the bridge – wrong facts are being shown in it. He had talked about filing a case against the makers and Akshay Kumar. Swamy had said- Akshay Kumar is a foreign citizen, so we can ask for his arrest and eviction from the country.
At the same time, after the release of the teaser of Adipurush, after seeing the look of different characters, the demand for its boycott started. Users on social media trolled the film and its characters saying that the movie has shown facts wrongly. Saif Ali Khan’s Ravana look was compared to Khilji by BJP, Hindu Mahasabha and users.
