Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Allegations of rigging in the allotment of liquor shop, uproar, liquor being sold overrate! enforcement silence?

During the allotment process of liquor shops, there was a dispute over a shop on Wednesday. Applications for the lottery were being submitted that all of a sudden the submission of forms regarding Chakrata Road-1 shop was banned. On this people created ruckus alleging rigging. Excise put its side that this shop was renewed through the government. Therefore, there had to be a ban on the submission of lottery forms for this.

This year 21 liquor shops in the district were not renovated. These included 17 shops of foreign liquor and four shops of country liquor. These were to be allotted through lottery. Forms for this were being submitted on Wednesday. Forms were to be submitted by three o’clock, but at two and a half o’clock the form submission for Chakrata Road-1 shop was banned. Seeing this, people started objecting. The businessmen who brought the farm started accusing the Excise Department of bigotry and corruption.

There was an uproar at the District Excise Office for a long time. District Excise Officer Rajeev Chauhan said that the orders for renewal of Chakrata Road-1 shop were not with the Excise Department till noon. Later, the commissioner’s office informed that the contractor had sought permission from the government for the renovation of this shop. They have got this permission. In such a situation, its release was canceled in the afternoon and the order was pasted.

Applications came for 12 shops

The District Excise Officer said that applications have come for 12 shops for the lottery process. A lottery will be organized for them on Thursday at Rishiparna Hall. The allotment of remaining nine shops is to be done on first come first serve basis. For this also applications will be called in future.

Liquor being sold overrate, enforcement silent

This year, the prices of liquor have been reduced as compared to last year. Despite this, many shops are getting the same rates as before. The reason for this is that the MRP is currently registered on the same bottles as last year. Not only this, many shops are charging more than last year’s MRP, but so far no action has been taken by the excise enforcement. According to sources, this time the enforcement department has been forbidden to take action.
