Uttarakhand: Rajasthan teacher drowned during rafting in Rishikesh, life jacket separated from body as soon as he jumped into Ganga

A youth from Jaipur Rajasthan went missing in the Ganges during rafting in the Ganges near Brahmapuri on the weekend. During rafting, he jumped into the Ganges, meanwhile his life jacket got separated from the body and he went missing in the depth of the water. This young man is a teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jaipur. The youth’s brother is the District Magistrate in District Alipurduar, Bengal. Apart from SDRF, NDRF has also been called to search for the youth.
Went out with friends
A huge crowd of tourists turned up on Friday for rafting in the Ganges over the weekend. A group of 14 people from Jaipur Rajasthan had come here to visit. Inspector Ritesh Shah, station in-charge of Munikireti said that Harish Kumar Meena (34 years) son of Ratan Lal Meena, VPO- Benar, District Jaipur, Rajasthan had come here to hang out with his friends.
Life jacket separated from body
Harish Kumar is a teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya Jaipur, all his friends are also teachers. All these people went for rafting in the Eco Tourism Zone on Friday. As soon as their raft reached near the Osho Ashram in Bramhapuri in the afternoon, Harish Kumar along with other friends jumped into the Ganges. During this his life jacket got separated from the body and he went missing in the depths of the Ganges.
Could not find out till late evening
According to the police, Surendra Meena, brother of Harish Kumar Meena, is the District Magistrate in Alipurduar Bengal. Water police and SDRF were deployed for rescue. On Friday evening, the NDRF team also reached here to search for the youth drowned in the Ganges. He could not be found anywhere till late evening.
