Girls arrested for stealing inside Delhi airport, used to work there

Two girls have been arrested by the police for stealing items from the bags of passengers inside the IGI Airport (Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport). One of these women used to steal while working as a loader while the other used to help her in this work. Police has recovered jewelry, three bags and other items worth Rs 60,000 from them. It is said that on the complaint of the Indigo management, the IGI Airport police station has registered an FIR against the accused.

According to DCP Devesh Mahla, the police team was working to prevent incidents of theft inside the IGI Airport. For this, instructions were also given to the officers of various airlines and officers of the security agency. On April 5, the police, along with the vigilance team of the airline, caught a female loader, Sana Mumtaz, with three stolen bags. She used to transport the stolen goods to the rented house with the help of one of her female friends.

After registering a case in this regard, the team of Police Station President Yashpal Singh interrogated the woman. She told that she has been working as a loader for two years. He could not survive on a salary of Rs 20,000. That’s why she started stealing and giving it to Malti who was living with her. He had stolen this bag on April 2 last. She used to easily take out the stolen goods using her I- card. On this information, the police team also arrested Malti.

It is noteworthy that in the month of January this year, Indira Gandhi International Airport Police and Vigilance Department had busted a racket of theft in the airport. The police had arrested eight loaders on charges of theft. Airport police station recovered 6 precious watches, jewelry worth Rs 10 lakh, mobile phone and Rs 1.15 lakh cash from the accused. Most of the accused were working at the airport since three. The accused used to get organized and execute the incidents of theft.
