Sonia Gandhi’s big attack on Modi government, said – silence will not solve the problem

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has once again fiercely targeted the Modi government at the Centre. In her article written to a newspaper, Sonia Gandhi accused the Center that the government is destroying democracy. He said that there was no discussion on the Adani issue in Parliament from the Central Government. Sonia Gandhi said that silence will not solve any problem of the country.

Sonia Gandhi made several serious allegations against the Center

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi said, the people of India have learned that when it comes to understanding the situation today, Prime Minister Modi’s actions speak louder than his words. Sonia Gandhi has accused the Modi government of misusing central agencies, trying to suppress the voice of the opposition in Parliament, putting pressure on the media, and trying to undermine the credibility of the judiciary. In his article, he has raised the issues related to inflation, unemployment and farmers. He said, imposed silence will not solve the problems of the country. Sonia Gandhi wrote, in the last months we have seen that the Prime Minister and his government are systematically demolishing all the three pillars of democracy, the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. His actions demonstrate a disdain for democracy and democratic accountability.

Stopped the opposition from raising issues in Parliament

In her article, Sonia Gandhi has written, referring to the incidents in Parliament, in the last session we saw the government strategy, under which the opposition was prevented from raising issues like unemployment, inflation, social division, budget and Adani. The government resorted to several measures to face the opposition’s opposition. These included deleting speeches, stopping discussion, attacking members of Parliament and finally disqualifying a Congress MP at a fast pace. As a result, the people’s budget of 45 lakh crores was passed without any debate. Even as the Finance Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha, the PM was busy inaugurating projects in his constituency with wide media coverage.

Investigation agencies have been abuse

Sonia Gandhi said, the misuse of CBI and ED by the Modi government is obvious. 95% of political cases were filed only against opposition leaders. Whereas, those who joined JP, the cases against them miraculously disappeared. He alleged that the laws made for national security are being misused. Cases against journalists- activists and think tanks are unpredictable.

Mehul Choksi and Bilkis Bano case also mentioned

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi wrote, PM makes pretentious statements about truth and justice. Even allegations of financial fraud on businessmen chosen by the Prime Minister are ignored. Interpol withdraws notice against fugitive Mehul Choksi. On the other hand, the culprits of the rape of Bilkis Bano were released. He is sharing the stage with BJP leaders. Sonia Gandhi wrote, the systematic attempt to undermine the credibility of the judiciary has reached the point of crisis. Union ministers are calling some retired judges antinational and warning them that they will have to pay the price. This language is being used to deliberately mislead the people, to inflame their passions, so that the judges can be threatened.

Media freedom compromised

Sonia Gandhi wrote, media freedom was compromised. The government did this through political intimidation combined with financial muscle and friends of the BJP. The evening debates on channels have become like slanging matches, where those who question the government are silenced. The government was not satisfied even with this, so it armed itself more legally by amending the Information Technology rules. Now any such news which is not liked can be removed by giving it the tag of fake news. He further wrote, the Supreme Court has clarified recently, criticism of the government is not the basis for punitive action. Is the government listening? No. The BJP- RSS has created an army of lawyers who are always ready to trouble any platform criticizing the great leader.

Inflation – on the issue of farmers at the Center target

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi said, Prime Minister Modi is silent on the legitimate questions being raised on the actions of the government affecting the lives of lakhs of people. The Finance Minister did not mention unemployment or inflation in his budget speech, as if these problems did not exist. Their silence cannot help the struggle of crores of people facing milk, vegetables, eggs, cooking gas, unemployment. After failing on his promise of doubling farmers’ income by 2022, the Prime Minister has conveniently remained silent while his other problems like rising input costs remain the same.

Important days ahead

Sonia Gandhi wrote, despite the efforts of the Prime Minister, the people of India can neither remain silent nor will they remain silent. The next few months are an important test for the examination of our democracy. Our country is at such a crossroads, where the Narendra Modi government is bent on misusing power and elections in several major states. He wrote, the Congress party will make every possible effort to take its message to the people. Congress did the same during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Congress will join hands with like- minded parties to protect the Constitution of India. Our fight is to protect the voice of the people. The Congress party understands its duties as an opposition party and is ready to work with all like- minded people.
