Giving details about Hardik’s punishment, the IPL said in its press release that this is the team’s first offense related to slow over-rate under the IPL Code of Conduct. Therefore, a fine of Rs 12 lakh has been imposed on captain Hardik Pandya.

Significantly, in this match, defending champions Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets. This is her third win of the season, taking her to the third spot in the points table. On the other hand, the Punjab Kings team is in sixth place with four points after two wins and two losses in four matches. During the match, a video also surfaced in which Hardik Pandya was seen getting angry on the players of the team. What are the slow over rate rules?

According to the rule of slow over rate in IPL, if this mistake happens for the first time, then only the captain is fined 12 lakhs. If a team is found guilty of a slow over rate for the second time, the entire team may be fined. The captain can be banned for one match if he is found guilty of slow over rate for the third time. Apart from Pandya, so far in IPL 2023, RCB captain Faf Duplesey and Rajasthan’s Sanju Samson have also been fined due to slow over rate.
