Giving details about Hardik’s punishment, the IPL said in its press release that this is the team’s first offense related to slow over-rate under the IPL Code of Conduct. Therefore, a fine of Rs 12 lakh has been imposed on captain Hardik Pandya.

What are the slow over rate rules?
According to the rule of slow over rate in IPL, if this mistake happens for the first time, then only the captain is fined 12 lakhs. If a team is found guilty of a slow over rate for the second time, the entire team may be fined. The captain can be banned for one match if he is found guilty of slow over rate for the third time.
