Uttarakhand: After Joshimath, landslide in forest department colony of Srinagar

Whether it is Joshimath or Rudraprayag or Karnaprayag of Uttarakhand, the issue of frequent landslides and cracks in houses has not calmed down till now. Similar news is also coming out from Pauri’s Srinagar. Yes, the residential colony built for the Forest Department employees in Pauri is standing at the edge of danger. Many government buildings have developed cracks due to frequent landslides. People leave their homes when there is rain and earthquake. The land on which the residential building is situated has also reached the verge of subsidence.

In such a situation, the employees of the Forest Department and their relatives living in these houses have to live under the shadow of fear everyday. People living in the residential colony of the Forest Department say that cracks started appearing in the buildings allotted to them since the construction of the Government Polytechnic under the residential buildings. Land cutting work was done during this construction. Since then, cracks started appearing in government residential buildings and the ground started sinking slowly. Now the situation is such that the land has sunk a lot. On feeling the tremors of heavy rain and earthquake, the people living in the residential colony get scared and come out of the houses.

People have demanded early repair of the residential colony. People say that if the residential colony is not repaired soon, some untoward incident may happen. In the same case, DM Ashish Chauhan told that a team of engineers will be sent for inspection of residential buildings. Along with this, DFO Pauri will also ask for the status report of the residential buildings. Employees should not have any problem, appropriate measures will be taken to solve the problem
