Uttarakhand: Graphic Era teacher Vikram Rautela gets PhD degree for research on newspapers

Graphic Era Hill University in Dehradun has honored Vikram Singh Rautela, a teacher of journalism and mass communication, with the degree of PhD. Rautela has been awarded a PhD for research on the effects of social media on newspapers in Uttarakhand. Rautela has done this research under the direction of Dr. Subhash Gupta, Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication. This is the fourth PhD completed in the department within a year under his direction. Vikram has found in research that due to social media, there has been an impact on the content, layout, number of news and business of newspapers. They have found that e-editions of newspapers are the result of the growing influence of social media.

Dr. H.N. Nagaraja, Director General of the University, awarded this title to Vikram Singh Rautela after he was successful in the final defense today. Earlier, a panel of experts including two leading universities of the US and the country evaluated his thesis. Sunny Sabestein, former Vice Chancellor of HDJ University of Journalism and Mass Communication participated as an expert in the final defence. Dean Dr. Jyoti Chhabda, Head of Department Journalism Dr. Taha Siddiqui, Dr. Himanshu Kargeti of Management and Research Coordinators Dr. Himani Binjola and Dr. Vidushi Negi were present as members of the research committee of the department.
