Uttarakhand: This is how preparations for Chardham Yatra will be tested, mock exercise will be held on April 20

Dated 20 April 2023 by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA), Uttarakhand Government in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority, Government of India, in view of the upcoming Chardham Yatra 2023 which is starting from 22 April A mock exercise is being organized. The purpose of organizing this mock exercise is to ensure that there is no loss of life, property and tourists/pilgrims in case of any natural or man-made incident during the forthcoming Chardham Yatra, as well as the state and district administration, other line departments and Coordination between Army, SSB, ITBP, CISF, CRPF, Air Force has to be ensured.
In view of this mock exercise today, on 18th April 2023, national level organizations such as Army, NDRF, ITBP, SSB, SDRF and various important departments like Meteorological Department, Health Department, Police Department, Telecom Department and Chardham Yatra were organized in the Secretariat premises. USDMA with higher officials of 07 districts namely Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri districts. And a table top exercise was organized by the officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). In which the circumstances of various incidents (flash flood, fire, road accident, health-related emergency, landslide etc.) were shown by the National Disaster Management Authority, and then district and departmental orders were issued by the higher officials of the concerned districts and various departments to deal with the said situations. The preparations at the level were explained through the presentation. After that, suggestions were given by the higher officials of the National Disaster Management Authority on how to improve these preparations.
On this occasion, honorable members of National Disaster Management Authority, Lt. General Syed Ata Hasnain, Rajendra Singh, Colonel KP Singh, Colonel Nadeem Arshad, Major General Sudhir Behl as well as Secretary, State Disaster Management Authority, Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Inspector General, SDRF , Mrs. Riddhim Agarwal, Additional Secretary, Disaster Management, Dr. Anand Srivastava and I.R.S. Expert V.B. Other officers were present along with the enumerator.
