Uttarakhand: Minister will write CR of secretaries? Ministers asked for rights again in the meeting!
The ministers of the Dhami government have again raised the demand for the right of secretaries to write CR. When Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj raised this issue in the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday, other ministers joined their support. On this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu to bring a proposal in the next cabinet meeting. According to sources, during the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday, senior cabinet minister Maharaj requested the chief minister that the ministers should have the right to write the secretary’s annual confidential entry. He has already brought this issue to the notice of the cabinet. But no decision has been taken on this yet.
After Maharaj raised the issue, all the ministers including cabinet ministers Ganesh Joshi, Subodh Uniyal supported his proposal. The Chief Minister assured the cabinet colleagues that the proposal would be seriously considered. According to sources, after the cabinet meeting was over, the chief minister called the chief secretary to his office and sought information regarding the CR of the secretaries. He directed the Chief Secretary to bring a proposal related to CR in the next cabinet meeting.
When the Chief Secretary was asked about this during the cabinet briefing, he said that the issue of CR was not on the agenda of the cabinet. In a way he avoided the question. On the other hand, the ministers of the government confirmed that the issue of CR would be discussed in the cabinet.
Maharaj has been demanding for a long time
Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj has been fighting for the right to write CR of his departmental secretaries in Uttarakhand on the lines of other states since the tenure of the Trivendra government. Even in the Dhami government till now, he has raised the issue many times including in the cabinet meeting. Experts believe that the ministers want the power of CR to check the arbitrariness of the bureaucracy. That’s why now along with Maharaj, other ministers are also seen in support.
