87 feet asteroid heading towards earth today! Speed is 17235km per hour! NASA warned
Meteor bodies keep orbiting in the solar system continuously. These are also called minor planets but sometimes they pose a big threat. Due to the gravity of the bigger planets, they start moving towards the planets and can also collide with them. NASA has issued an alert today for a large asteroid coming towards the earth. It is said to be of the size of an aeroplane. Let us tell you how dangerous this asteroid passing through the Earth can be today.
NASA has issued an alert today i.e., on 30 April, of a large asteroid coming close to the Earth. According to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the asteroid is named 2023 GF2. Its size is 87 feet, which is as big as an airplane. It is going to pass close to the Earth today. If it passes, its distance will be 4,400,000 kilometers.
These constantly rotating meteor bodies or asteroids, according to space agencies, are a threat hovering around the earth. In fact, NASA says that the chances of them hitting the earth are very less. But sometimes small asteroids often enter the Earth’s atmosphere. These are sometimes seen as burning stars in the night, because after entering the atmosphere, there is tremendous friction and they catch fire.
But before reaching the surface of the earth, they get destroyed by burning. Because so much friction with the atmosphere is tremendous. That’s why there is a possibility of 1 out of 100 asteroids hitting the earth. But, if a big asteroid collides with the earth, it can also destroy the earth. In 2013, a meteorite named Chelyabinsk exploded in the sky in Russia, which damaged 7,000 buildings. Due to this more than 1400 people were injured. This asteroid was 59 feet in size. While today the asteroid coming close to the earth is 87 feet.
