Punjab: Not a factory, the ‘gas of death’ leaked from the grocery store
A painful accident took place in Ludhiana, Punjab. 11 people including four children died due to poisonous gas leaking in Gyaspura area of the district. 11 people are still in unconscious condition. There was chaos in the area after the incident. Police and administration have sealed the area after reaching the spot. No one is being allowed to go to the spot.
As soon as the incident was reported, the local police and fire brigade reached the spot. The NDRF team has also taken care of the front. The entire area has been sealed. Rescue teams are checking every house. It is being told that the death toll may increase.
In fact, earlier information was received that there has been a gas leak in the closed factory. Due to which there was havoc in the area. As soon as the day broke, there was a pile of dead bodies. However, after investigation, it has come to light that this gas has leaked from the grocery store. There has been an outcry in the area due to the gas leak.
On the other hand, to prevent further damage due to gas leakage, the police have evacuated the surrounding 300 meters area. Along with this, efforts are being made to stop the gas leak. According to the police officers and fire brigade who reached the spot, how did the gas leak from a grocery shop. Which was the gas, it will be known only after investigation. However, it is suspected that ammonia gas has leaked.
The operator of the shop from where the gas leaked is unconscious. There is also a clinic shop near the shop. The family living here is insensitive. Many of these people have died. Their bodies have turned blue. On the information of the incident, MLA of the area Rajinder Kaur Chhina has also reached the spot. He said that there will be an inquiry into the gas leak episode. At present, work is being done to save lives. Search operation is being conducted in the entire area.
The dead included five women, six men and two children aged 10 and 13. A cat has also died in the gas leak. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Ludhiana Civil Hospital. As soon as the incident was reported, the local police and fire brigade reached the spot. Rescue teams are checking every house. According to the police, the roofs of the houses are being checked with the help of drones.
CM Mann expressed grief
According to the administration, their focus is on getting people out. Every house is being investigated. CM Bhagwant Mann has expressed grief over this accident by tweeting. CM tweeted that the incident of gas leak in Gyaspura area of Ludhiana is very sad. Police, government and NDRF teams are present on the spot. All possible help is being provided.
