Uttarakhand: DGP Ashok Kumar reached Kedarnath amidst snowfall, appealed to the devotees- ‘Wait for the weather to clear’

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar took stock of the travel arrangements after reaching Kedarnath, Gaurikund and Sonprayag. During this, the DGP gave instructions to make correspondence regarding preparation of bypass from the other end of Ghoda Padav, as the road in Gaurikund is narrow and there is only one way of movement. Along with this, the police force deployed at all the pedestrian stages of the journey and asked to keep oxygen cylinders for the convenience and immediate assistance of the passengers. Actually, Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar inspected the important stages of Kedarnath Yatra today. Along with operation Maryada to maintain the sanctity of the yatra halts, he instructed to put up hoardings, flakes, banners in this regard. To maintain the movement of devotees at the police check post in Gaurikund, the home guard jawan, who was continuously doing the duty of announcement, was also rewarded.

At the same time, DGP Ashok Kumar also interacted with the passengers going on foot to Kedarnath Dham. Passengers requested to control the crowd at the palanquin booking counter. He gave instructions to further improve the police arrangements in Gaurikund. Along with giving instructions to open new posts of SDRF at Jangalchatti and Bhimbali on the yatra route, he also told the need to make rain sheds for the pilgrims to stop at the yatra halts.

DGP Ashok Kumar asked for permanent construction of SDRF on the selected land in Tilwara. Along with this, instructions were given to provide wireless sets to all the traffic in-charges to make effective traffic system at the district level. Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Visakha Bhadane told that the land of reporting police post Chopta (Tungnath) has been transferred to the police department. At the same time, the DGP also inquired about the travel arrangements from the passengers in Kedarnath.

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar has released a video from the snowfall in Kedarnath. In the video, he said that the weather has again turned bad in Kedarnath Dham and it is raining very heavily. In view of the safety of the devotees, they have been stopped in Rishikesh and Srinagar.

Also appealed to the passengers present in Sonprayag and Gaurikund not to climb towards Kedarnath Dham. All the devotees are requested to postpone their journey till the weather clears up. He says that be careful in view of the weather and start your journey according to the weather forecast.
