Uttarakhand: The mystery of digital donation deepened in Badri-Kedar Dham, the name of the employee of the temple committee came to the fore!

The mystery of receiving digital donations in Badri-Kedar Dham is getting deeper. The chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) claims that Paytm has installed QR codes in the premises of the two dhams without taking his permission. Whereas, the chief executive officer of the committee says that the committee had an agreement with Paytm five years ago, but Paytm did not take permission at the competent level to install the QR code.

It is also coming to light that the bank account linked to the QR code belongs to an employee of the committee. Who is the steno of the senior officer of the committee. However, the office bearers of the committee are refraining from speaking anything in this regard. The chairman and chief executive officer of the committee are asking for a detailed inquiry into the matter. Paytm’s QR codes for digital donations were found installed in the main premises of Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham on the day of opening the doors, which were removed by the temple committee on the same day. The matter came into limelight after it was circulated on the internet media.

After this, BKTC President Ajendra Ajay had said on Sunday that the committee did not install such QR codes anywhere. Along with this, a complaint was given to the police in both the dhams to investigate the matter. On this, a case was registered against the unknown at Badrinath outpost, while the Tahrir given at Kedarnath outpost is still being investigated.

Meanwhile, the episode took a new turn on Monday. According to SP Visakha Ashok Bhadane of Rudraprayag district, preliminary investigation by the police revealed that in the year 2018, an MoU was signed between BKTC and Paytm regarding the installation of QR codes. On the other hand, a police officer of Chamoli district told on the condition of anonymity that the bank account linked to the QR code of Paytm belongs to an employee of the temple committee. However, the committee is not confirming this.

Here, Yogendra Singh, the chief executive officer of the temple committee, says that Paytm did not take permission from the office bearers of the committee to install the QR code. When asked about this, the chairman of the committee, Ajendra Ajay, also said that Paytm did not talk to him or the CEO about installing the QR code. He says that at what level this happened, it is being investigated.

Donation of 70 lakhs came from QR code

According to information received from sources, the temple committee has so far received donations of more than Rs 70 lakh through the QR code of Paytm. Talking to BKTC President Ajendra Ajay about this, he said that detailed details have been sought from Paytm regarding this. QR codes were installed by Paytm for digital donations in the premises of Badri-Kedar Dham. But, Paytm didn’t take any permission from me for this. It is learned that after talking to the employees at the lower level, Paytm installed the QR codes. Detailed investigation of this episode is being done. Everything will be clear soon.

An MoU was signed between Paytm and the temple committee in the year 2018 to install QR code in Badri-Kedar Dham. I was not aware of this. Nevertheless, the consent of the temple committee is necessary before installing the QR code. At what level the negligence happened, it is being investigated. If any employee of the temple committee is involved in this, action will be taken against him as well. How much donation came in the temple committee’s account through QR code and how it was withdrawn and distributed. All these points are being investigated.
