Uttarakhand: Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said on demonetisation, – Modi-led central government is not clear about the policies

Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that once again demonetisation by the central government led by Modi has proved that the BJP government is not clear about its policies. He said that the public wants to know why the government had brought 2000 rupee notes in 2016 and why they are being removed from circulation now? Yashpal Arya said that all the tall claims made by Prime Minister Modi at the time of note ban in November 2016 are proving to be hollow. At that time, the Prime Minister had taken out of circulation Rs 500 to Rs 1000 notes and claimed that his decision would root out black money and terrorism from the country. The leader of the opposition said that the figures are telling that the opposite has happened, black money has increased in the country in these years.

He said that at that time the government had made another claim. The Prime Minister had then said that a large amount of black money is hidden in the country in the form of these two currencies, black money will be destroyed if they are taken out of circulation. Yashpal Arya said that, but later it was proved from the report of RBI that almost all the currency notes which were in circulation in the country at that time were returned.

The Leader of the Opposition expressed surprise that the country could not understand then that if the black money in the country increases with the big notes of 500 and 1000, then how will the black money be reduced by introducing the bigger notes of 2000? This is a clear admission of the failure of the government, the main question is that why the two thousand note was brought in the market? Earlier also the money that was in the market was returned almost as much money, so BJP should tell what was the benefit of that?

The government should also clarify whether this is another economic experiment after the demonetisation disaster of November 2016, which did not bring any tangible benefit to the country

Yashpal Arya said that, the BJP government creates different types of worlds to divert the attention of the people of the country. Even then, the Congress opposed demonetisation and termed it as Tughlaqi’s decision while taking out 500 and 1000 notes from circulation. In course of time the apprehensions of the Congress proved to be true.

The Leader of the Opposition said that, in order to distract the attention of the public from the failures of the government and the burning issues of the country, the BJP stoops to any extent and takes decisions that harm the country, disturb the public and surprise the economists. Accusing the government, he said that even at this time, when the country is troubled by inflation, unemployment and falling economy, once again in the scorching heat, the BJP government wants to kill the people by making them stand on the line to exchange notes. But a white paper should be brought out to show the impact of demonetisation.
