On UCC, Bhasin said – All religions, classes and nature of God’s land is protected by Uniform Civil Law, followers of all religions will get equal rights in the state

The BJP has presented its opinion in favor of uniform law and rights for 1.25 crore residents of the state before the Uniform Civil Code Draft Committee. The party made it clear that they are in favor of maintaining equal rights for women in all matters of marriage, divorce, property etc. Under the leadership of Dr. Devendra Bhasin, former State Vice President and special invitee member of State Working Committee, the party representatives made it clear before the High Powered Committee that BJP is in favor of Uniform Civil Code, which is in accordance with the Constitution and Hon. The Supreme Court has also directed in this regard. Since citizens are the first base of the country and society, therefore the determination of their rights is an important point. These rights should be based on the fundamental principle of protecting the unity and integrity of the country.

The party believes that the culture and heritage of the country and state should also be kept in mind while deciding the rights of the citizens. So that they do not have a negative impact on the basic identity of India and Uttarakhand. The important subject of Uniform Civil Code is expected to be equality, which creates a sense of equality in every section of the society and does not convey the intention that any particular class or community has special rights separately.

The party believes in theory and practice that the rights of women should be equal to that of men and women should not be seen as neglected or secondary in any class. They should have equal rights with men in property, they should get equal rights in maternal family in childhood and then in in-laws after marriage. Similarly, in the case of divorce, the same rights that men have, women should also have the same rights. In marriage, divorce or other social matters, the bad practices going on in the name of religion or tradition should be removed. Simplifying the process of registration, registration of every marriage should be made mandatory. Also, action should be taken against those who do not register.

The party is against any kind of discrimination on the basis of religion, so that the followers of all religions should have equal rights so that an atmosphere of mutual respect and harmony can be maintained in the society. Followers of any religion should not have the right to do any such work which creates trouble for the people of other religion and causes tension in the society.

It was clarified from the side of the party that it is necessary to completely stop illegal conversions. If any person wants to convert voluntarily, then the administration should ensure that conversion is not happening due to pressure, greed or threats etc. Its permission should be given only after complete satisfaction. There should be a complete ban on the construction of religious places. If any group or individual wants to build a religious place, then on the basis of a prescribed procedure and justification, the construction should be done only after the permission from the competent authority and following the rules of construction of the building. The BJP made it clear that it is against giving legal recognition to same-sex marriages and live-in relationships.

The party representatives made it clear before the draft committee, the form of the Uniform Civil Code should be such that the form of Dev Bhoomi remains Dev Bhoomi. Dehradun Metropolitan President Siddharth Agarwal and Satyaveer Chauhan along with Dr. Bhasin as party representative presented their side before the draft committee.
