Uttarakhand: Congress shied away from the meeting of the drafting committee of civil code, Bhatt said – the anti-people face of Congress has come to the fore
The BJP termed the non-participation of the Congress in the Uniform Civil Code draft committee meeting as unfortunate and said that the Congress has always been playing the role of a negative opposition by staying away from constructive works and is not concerned with the issues of public interest.
Party state president Mahendra Bhatt alleged that the appeasement anti-Devbhoomi face of the Congress has again come to the fore by shying away from this important issue related to peace, harmony and equal rights in the state. He said that the party organization has presented its suggestions regarding this law in detail before the committee. Similarly, we are completely satisfied with the discussions held with other social, political and non-political organizations and with the drafting process so far. He hoped that soon Uttarakhand would become the first state to have a Uniform Civil Code for its residents. He said that this law will give equal legal, social and economic rights to the people of Devbhoomi, as well as ensure equality for women of all classes, religions and societies. Expressing confidence, he said that this law is going to become an example for other states of the country just like the copying and conversion law.
Countering the Congress’s allegation of not getting detailed information, Bhatt said that for many decades the debate on the Uniform Civil Code is going on in various forums across the country. Congress leaders have opposed any such law in national and state media or other public forums. In the state also, live debates on this subject are going on in meetings, seminars, TV debates, newspapers, social media and every section of the society, the spokespersons and leaders of the Congress and other parties themselves present the views of the party on this subject as a protest. Live But when it came to officially favoring the party, they could not muster the courage to protest fearing public sentiments in favor of this law. This is the reason why Congress leaders did not attend the meeting for the appeasement of a particular religion, giving the excuse of not knowing about the draft.
He alleged that the reality is that the Congress never wants the people of the state to get equal laws and rights so that the image of a peaceful state with social harmony and law and order could be strengthened. He said that these people who oppose triple talaq would never want that minority sisters should get equal legal and social rights as men.
Bhatt sarcastically said that not attending the meeting is just an excuse. The reality is to appease the minority votes and avoid public displeasure on this issue. That’s why it is meaningless to expect more from those who promise Muslim University in closed rooms.
