Uttarakhand: Fed up with molestation and obscene acts in Dehradun’s Kalsi, many girl students left the school, accused headmaster suspended
The headmaster of the upper primary school in Kalsi was molesting and doing obscene acts with girl students. On confirmation of the allegations in the preliminary enquiry, the District Education Officer (Primary Education) has suspended the Principal Chatar Singh Chauhan and set up a departmental enquiry. Also attached it to the Deputy Education Officer’s office, Chakrata.
The case pertains to the Government Upper Primary School of development block Kalsi. In April 2023, a student complained to the female teacher posted there. Told, the headmaster has been molesting and doing obscene acts with more than half a dozen girl students. When the matter reached the higher officials, there was panic in the department. On May 4, Deputy Education Officer Kalsi Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Jadli reached the school and questioned the headmaster, teacher and girl students.
The allegations were found to be true in the investigation, he said. The detailed report was handed over to the higher officials. On the basis of this, District Education Officer (Primary Education) RS Rawat has suspended the Principal immediately. Deputy Education Officer Chakrata Pooja Negi has been entrusted with the investigation of the case. He has been ordered to submit the report within 15 days after listening to the side of the headmaster. He told, after the departmental inquiry report comes, a complaint will also be made to the police in the matter.
Panic so much that more than half a dozen girl students left the school
Such was the terror of the headmaster that more than half a dozen girl students left the school. First a student of class seven got her name crossed. After this, being fed up with the harassment of the headmaster, six other girl students have also got their names deducted from the school. The deputy education officer collected information about the girl students who dropped out of the school. On investigation, it was found that he had taken admission in another school in the same area.
Was harassing for a long time, the courage of a student revealed the secret
The headmaster had been molesting the girl students for a long time. But, the victimized girl students could not muster the courage to complain about the atrocities meted out to them due to the local law and its influence. If a girl student had not told the whole thing to the teacher showing courage, then perhaps the headmaster’s misdeeds would never have come to the fore.
One day an aggrieved girl student called the lady teacher of the school and told about the harassment of girl students. The teacher was stunned after hearing about the molestation and obscene acts of about half a dozen girl students. As soon as the information was received, the teacher and departmental officers swung into action. Deputy Education Officer Bhuneshwar Prasad Jadli also admits that if the student had not called the teacher and informed, the matter might have been buried. There would have been a possibility of harassment of other girl students as well. Legal action will also be implemented after the departmental inquiry is completed, he added.
