‘The allegations are very serious…’, Delhi HC gives a big blow to Manish Sisodia, refuses to grant bail
Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s troubles do not seem to be reducing. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday refused him bail in a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case related to the alleged excise policy scam.
A single bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma, while giving the verdict, said that the allegations against Sisodia are very serious. He has held an influential position. He has been the Deputy Chief Minister. He had 18 departments. His behavior is also not good. Tampering with the evidence cannot be ruled out as most of the witnesses are public servants. That’s why bail cannot be given now.
Actually, the trial court had rejected Manish Sisodia’s petition on 31 March. The decision of the lower court was challenged by Sisodia in the High Court. The CBI opposed his bail plea in the court. The CBI had said that Manish Sisodia was the mastermind behind the excise scam. He had played the most important and crucial role in the criminal conspiracy.
After which the High Court had reserved its decision on his petition on May 11. Now Manish Sisodia will move the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court.
