Ukraine’s parliament supports 50-year sanctions on Iran

Ukraine’s parliament has endorsed the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to impose sanctions on Iran for 50 years. The approval bill presented by President Vladimir Zelensky to parliament received 328 votes, more than the minimum 226 required, on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported.

On 27 May, the NSDC approved sanctions against Iran. This includes a complete ban on trade with military equipment and dual-use goods and services.

The sanctions also include the suspension of transit of resources, flights and transport by Iranian residents to Ukraine.

Prohibition of certain economic and financial obligations in favor of Iranian residents and restrictions on transfer of technologies to Iranian residents are also on this list.

Earlier this month, Zelensky said Iran was supplying combat drones to Russia, to be used in attacks against Ukraine.
