The qualification of teachers has been fixed till class 12th. Now from the year 2030, only 4-year B.ed or 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) degree holders will be able to become teachers. Under the recommendations of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), the minimum qualification of a teacher has been fixed from kindergarten to class 12th. These also include BA-B.Ed, B.Sc-B.Ed and B.Com-B.Ed. The special thing is that from the academic session 2023-24, 4-year B.ed course is starting as a pilot project in 41 universities. NTA will start the online application window for the National Common Entrance Test next week. 4 Year B.Ed Program
The chairman of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCETE) said that the 4-year B.Ed program is starting under NEP 2020 itself. From the year 2030, minimum qualification has been fixed for teachers to become teachers in schools. This includes 4-year B.Ed or 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) degree holders. The first pilot project is starting in 41 universities from this session. , Middle and Secondary (5+3+3+4). ITEP will not only provide state-of-the-art education, but also provide training in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLAN ), will also form the basis of inclusive education and understanding of India and its values, ethos, art, traditions and other subjects.
Objective of school education reform
With the aim of improving the quality of school education, BA-B.Ed, B.Sc-B.Ed and B.Com-B.Ed courses are being started in universities affiliated to the Integrated Teacher Education Program. It will be a dual composite graduate degree. After class 12, students who want to make their future as a teacher can take admission in any one of the BA-B.Ed, B.Com-B.Ed and B.Sc-B.Ed programs. For the time being till then the 2-year B.Ed program will continue as before.
Application will start from next week
Under the pilot project before the academic session 2023-24, 4-year BEd or 4-year ITEP will start in 41 universities. NTA will conduct National Common Entrance Test for admission in this. For this test, NTA will open window for online application form next week. In this, admission will be given from its merit. There will be 50 students in each batch. At the same time, in some universities, studies will also be done in 2-2 batches.
