The House of Representatives of the US Parliament has passed the bill to increase the debt limit of the government with a clear majority.

There were 314 votes in favor of the bill and 117 votes against it. There has been a vote against from both sides.

165 Democrats (President Joe Biden’s party) and 149 Republican members have voted in support of the bill.

With this, the debt crisis of the US government can be resolved and the danger of the government being a defaulter can be averted.

Kevin McCarthy, the most senior leader of the Republican Party, who played an important role in getting the agreement between the two parties to pass this bill, has called it historic.

He has rejected criticism from Conservative colleagues that he has failed to secure major spending cuts.

To save the government from default, it will now be mandatory to pass this bill in the Senate before Monday.

President Biden has said that he wants to get this bill passed as soon as possible.

It is believed that on June 5, the government can exceed its limit of borrowing.
