Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Jod Mela at Gurdwara Sri Reetha Sahib, the main pilgrimage center of Sikhs in Champawat on Friday. On reaching Shri Reetha Sahib, the Chief Minister was welcomed by the Gurdwara Management Committee. The Chief Minister wished for the prosperity of the state by paying obeisance at Sri Reetha Sahib Gurudwara Darbar.

Congratulating everyone for the Jod Mela organized at Sri Reetha Sahib, the Chief Minister said that I pray that this fair brings new wave, new enthusiasm and new creation in everyone’s life. He said that it is my good fortune that today I am getting the privilege of offering prayers at a holy place like Reetha Sahib as a chief servant. He said that it has been said in Guru Granth Sahib that Jitne Basan Sadh Jan, So Than Suhanda means the place where the feet of great men fall, that place becomes a pilgrimage.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that it is said that in the year 1501, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji came to Reetha Sahib with his disciple Mardana, during which he met Dhernath, a disciple of Siddha Mandali Mahant Guru Gorakhnath. While a long conversation was going on between Guru Nanak Ji Maharaj and Dhernath, the disciple Mardana felt hungry. When he did not get food, he reached to Shri Guru Nanak Dev after being disappointed. Guru Nanak Dev Ji ordered the disciple to touch the reetha tree in front of him and eat it. Knowing that reetha is bitter, as soon as he ate a reetha, obeying the Guru’s order, Mardana found the fruit of reetha sweet. Since then this place has been named Reetha Sahib and since then sweet Reetha is distributed to the devotees here as Prasad.

The Chief Minister said that Shri Reetha Sahib is such a divine place where Guru Nanak Dev ji gave the message of love, service and dedication to the world by filling sweetness in the bitter reetha. As you all feel at the time of car service, today I am feeling the same by being present among all of you at the ‘Jod Mela’. He said that today the honor given to me by all of you on this auspicious occasion is not just an honor for me, but a gift of our common culture’s fast, sacrifice and penance, this honor is not mine but the honor of all the people of the state. He said that today I dedicate this honour, this pride at the feet of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and while bowing down at the feet of Guru Nanak Saheb Ji, I humbly pray that the spirit of service within me may increase day by day and his blessings may continue to increase. May it remain on me and the 1.25 crore people of the state.

The Chief Minister said that such fairs work to promote our folk culture and folk traditions. Earlier, when the facilities of communication and transport were not available, it was possible to meet friends and relatives only through these fairs and festivals. The basic mantra of ‘Ik Onkar Sat Naam’ in the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is deeply inspiring. His teachings, which reflect the spirit of compassion, justice and equality along with walking on the path of goodness, are going to guide all mankind. He said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of ‘Naam Japo, Kirat Karo’ contains the essence of all his teachings. His sacred teachings are a source of inspiration for all mankind and will work to unite the society. He said that along with the spirit of brotherhood and harmony, the holy teachings of Guru Maharaj also inspire us to live life positively. He has made every person aware of living a life based on self-respect and has given a new energy and consciousness to the Indian society and culture. His spiritual philosophy is going to inspire a person for service. He said that the land of Uttarakhand is dedicated for the promotion and dissemination of such holy teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This holy land of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is rich in Guru tradition.

The Chief Minister said that besides this miraculous power center of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Reetha Sahib, the divine penance place of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Hemkunt Sahib, Nanakmatta Sahib and many holy places of Guru Parampara, this land of Uttarakhand can spread the teachings of Guru Maharaj. have been Every Sangat hopes to pay obeisance at these holy Sikh pilgrimage places located in Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister said that every year a large number of Sangats from many places come to Uttarakhand for the pilgrimage of Hemkunt Sahib even after taking a pledge to visit Hemkunt Sahib, the holy gate of the Gurus located in the Himalayas. He said that earlier this journey to Hemkunt Sahib used to be difficult but now it has become convenient due to expansion of roads on the mountains. He said that it is a matter of happiness for all of us that the ropeway is being constructed till Hemkunt Sahib under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now Sikh devotees from all over the world will be able to visit Hemkunt Sahib conveniently. It is the result of the efficient leadership of the Prime Minister that the difficult task of starting the Kartarpur Corridor was completed today and the year-old wish of the Sikh community was fulfilled.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a historic decision to celebrate ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ for the first time on December 26 to remember the martyrdom of the Sahibzads of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. On the other hand, on the birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, he became the first Prime Minister to create history by addressing the public from the Red Fort after sunset. He said that today on this auspicious festival, let us all take a pledge to carry forward the holy traditions with unwavering faith and firm faith in the holy teachings of the Gurus, as well as fulfill the dream of a just, inclusive and harmonious society on the path shown by Guru Maharaj. The Chief Minister said that the state government under the guidance of the Prime Minister is continuously working on its resolution to make Uttarakhand the best state. On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the construction of motor bridge across Ladhiya river at Reethasahib. After paying obeisance at the Gurudwara, the Chief Minister visited the Guru Gorakhnath temple adjacent to it and took blessings and wished for peace and happiness in the state.

Earlier, District Magistrate Narendra Singh Bhandari welcomed Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami by presenting him with a bouquet on reaching Gaj Chanyoli. During this, the Chief Minister was welcomed and felicitated by singing a welcome song by the children of Nanda Convent Public School in the program organized there. Addressing the people, the Chief Minister said that district Champawat is moving ahead in every field, be it in the field of fruits, science city or education etc. He said that it is the effort of the government that the remote areas of the district should also be connected with the stream of development in every area and the benefits of the schemes should reach the last person standing in the queue. During this various problems of the area were put before the Chief Minister by the villagers. On the problems of the villagers, the Chief Minister assured that immediate efforts would be made to solve their demands and problems.
