Uttarakhand: Stampede due to police verification drive, administration strict on illegal occupants

Along with the Uttarakhand government’s anti-encroachment campaign, the police has also started the work of verification of outsiders strictly. Along with this, the work of verification of Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Ration card has been started.
Concerned over the growing Muslim population in Uttarakhand, the Uttarakhand government has started a campaign to remove encroachments. After receiving intelligence, the forest department has started taking strict action to evict people living on the banks of rivers and illegally occupying government lands.
