What is meant by botnet infection?

A botnet is a network of devices that has been infected with the help of a ‘bot’ or malware. Once a device becomes part of a botnet, the attacker gets control and data access to it. Through this data, things like hacking, spamming and breaking into bank accounts can be done. In such a situation, everything from text messages and calls to usernames and passwords can be stolen.
