Tributes paid to the martyrs at the war memorial

Tributes were paid to the martyrs on Friday at the War Memorial at IMA. There is a seven and a half feet bronze statue of a Gentleman Cadet saluting with a sword. Arches have been made in the back of the statue, on which the names of 898 brave ex-servicemen are engraved. These are the former soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the country. The Indian Military Academy’s War Memorial was inaugurated by Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw on 17 November 1999. At the War Memorial, 331 Gentleman Cadets took a pledge to uphold the rich traditions of the Indian Army and keep the nation’s flag flying high before being commissioned as officers of the Indian Army.

Army Chief’s advice to young officers

Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande asked the IMA graduates to keep updating their skills to meet the challenges posed by the rapidly changing nature of warfare. Addressing the Passing Out Parade at the conclusion of Spring Term Course of IMA, General Pandey said that with the rapid development of technology, the dynamics of warfare are changing rapidly and the battlefield has become more complex.
