WFI elections to be held on July 4, removed referee who made statement against Brij Bhushan; Vinesh said – I am saddened by the silence of PM

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections will be held on July 4. The federation announced this on Monday. Former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mahesh Mittal Kumar has been appointed as the returning officer for the election.

In the meeting with the wrestlers, the Sports Minister had assured to hold elections by June 30. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will not be able to contest this election. He has been the president for three consecutive terms, so according to the rules of the federation, he cannot contest for any post.

1 coach and 2 referees were removed

There is news of removal of a coach and 2 referees from the Asian Championship. Jagbir Singh, one of the removed referees, made statements against Brij Bhushan. The Asian Championship in the Under-23 and Under-17 categories is to be held in Kazakhstan from June 10 to 18.

According to media reports, apart from Jagbir Singh, it has been decided not to send Under-17 team coach Rajeev Tomar and referee Virender Malik to the Asian Championship.

Jagbir’s statement was considered against the government. Similarly, both Virender Malik and Rajeev are close to Brij Bhushan. For this reason his name has also been removed. Virendra was even arrested for sexual harassment during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The team has only one referee

The selection trial was conducted by the Adhoc Committee of the Wrestling Federation for the championship. Meanwhile, on June 14, Khap Panchayats have announced Haryana bandh in support of the wrestlers.

Wrestlers will announce on 15th

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat said in the Brij Bhushan and Wrestlers dispute that we are waiting for the charge sheet to come on June 15. After this, we will make a big announcement regarding the movement.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had talked to the wrestlers a few days back. In which it was assured that the charge sheet of the case would be presented on June 15.

Vinesh Phogat said 3 things

1. In training camps and tournaments, Brij Bhushan used every possible way to touch young female wrestlers when he found them alone. This used to happen again and again.
2. Brijbhushan is a strong man. They are roaming everywhere and we are being forced to sit at home.
3. No one was listening to us. We were forced to hold a public protest so that the country would know how top wrestlers are treated.

Delhi Police seeks help from 3 countries in Brijbhushan case
In the case of sexual exploitation of women wrestlers, Delhi Police has sought help from 3 countries Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Indonesia in the investigation. By sending notices to their wrestling associations, they have been asked to provide CCTV footage and photos of places where female wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan of sexual harassment. Wrestlers have alleged molestation in 2016 and 2022 in Mongolia and in 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Earlier, Delhi Police has sent notices to 2 women wrestlers asking for photo, audio and video evidence of sexual abuse. In this, from staying in his hotel to roommates, he has been asked.

Khap Panchayat announces Haryana bandh on June 14, will stop supply of fruits and vegetables to Delhi

On the other hand, Janata Sansad of Khap representatives has announced Haryana Bandh on 14th June. Dalal Khap-84 Pradhan Bhoop Singh Dalal, Pradhan of Palam 360 Surendra Singh Solanki, Dilip Singh Chhipi from Rajasthan, Balbir Singh from Punjab and Narayan Bhai Chowdhary from Gujarat participated in this Janata Sansad.
