Uttarakhand: Purola controversy heated up… 52 former bureaucrats wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary and the DGP, made this demand

52 former bureaucrats have written an open letter to the Chief Secretary and the DGP regarding the Uttarkashi Purola controversy. In which a request has been made for immediate action on the communal situation in the state. This group of 52 former civil servants, former civil servants of All India and Central Services, has expressed concern. Expressing deep concern over the situation developing in Uttarakhand, it has been written that the mahapanchayat to be held in Purola town on 15 June 2023 and the rally and “Chakka Jam” program to be held in Tehri on 20 June 2023, both openly associated with the call to expel Muslims from
Requested that these argumentative, communal or threatening programs should not be allowed to take place on these dates or otherwise on any other date. Said that the state police and administration work according to the Constitution, law and various directions of the Supreme Court and take action against hate speech and hooliganism. That’s why it is necessary to stop such hate spreading events. The bureaucrats further wrote that we have seen that along with these events, a communal campaign has emerged in the region, including calls to shut down markets in 12 cities and rallies and hate speeches against Muslims, which has already happened in Purola. There are reports of 42 Muslim families from the city on 28 May.
Muslim shopkeepers in Purola, Barkot and possibly other places have abandoned their shops. Based on the reports available in the media, we cannot ignore the conclusion that this ongoing campaign is a criminal enterprise clearly aimed at threatening our citizens. However, the district administration refused permission to hold the mahapanchayat at Purola on June 15. SP Yaduvanshi said that if the need arises, section 144 will be invoked. For which almost complete preparations have been done.
