Uttarakhand: Congress leader met DGP to stop mahapanchayat in Purola, read what he said…?

The proposed mahapanchayat of Hindu organizations in Purola on June 15 has attracted the attention of the whole country. A petition was even filed in the Supreme Court to stop the proposed mahapanchayat of Hindu organizations in Purola. Although the Supreme Court rejected the petition and asked the petitioners to go to the High Court. Many Muslim organizations have also written letters to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. At the same time, the Congress delegation led by Uttarakhand Congress State President Karan Mahara met DGP Ashok Kumar today. The delegation handed over a memorandum demanding a ban on any kind of mahapanchayat.

Leaders like MLA Mamta Rakesh, MLA Furkan Ahmed, MLA Virendra Jati and former MLA Qazi Nizamuddin were present in the Congress delegation. After meeting the DGP, Congress state president Karan Mahara said that talks have been held with the Director General of Police regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. He said that the way the incident happened in Purola, it becomes the responsibility of the government and the administration that every citizen should feel safe.

He said that the situation has become such that some organizations related to the government are trying to intimidate and threaten the minorities. Due to fear, many people from Purola have closed their business and moved away, which is a matter of concern for all.

He said that the Congress has demanded from the DGP that whoever is guilty, the strictest action should be taken against him. But there should not be a feeling of insecurity in any citizen. A person living in this country should not be seen on the basis of religion but as a citizen.

Mahara said that since 2017, continuous efforts are being made to vitiate the atmosphere in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, a demand has been raised to take strict action against the pseudo religious leaders who gave hate speech to the DGP. Expressing apprehension, he said that the way the organizations are working in the Purola incident, it seems that unsuccessful attempts are being made to divert attention from the Ankita murder case and save the VIP.

He also alleged that efforts are being made to hush up all the recruitment scams and development issues where the government is lagging behind, so that the public’s attention can be diverted from the real issues.
