Uttar Pradesh / Noida: Women were embarrassed to see men in lungi, society implemented dress code

A residential society in Greater Noida has implemented a dress code inside its premises. A notice has been put up to ban roaming around in Himsagar apartment complex wearing nightie and lungi. The secretary of the Society’s Resident Welfare Association (RWA) has also issued a notice. It was written in the notice that ‘take care of the dress while roaming in the society premises. Wear such clothes that other people do not feel uncomfortable and no one questions you.’ The women living in the society complained that ‘when they go for a walk in the park in the morning, some people are there wearing lungi. Let’s do yoga. Because of this we women feel embarrassed. After the dress code is implemented, at least now people will not come out wearing such open clothes.

However, after the issue of the notice, a debate broke out among the people of the society. Many people said that it is not appropriate to comment on someone’s dress, then someone said that everyone’s dress is different, no one should feel bad because of this. This dress code has been implemented by the Cooperative Housing Society of Sector P-4 of Greater Noida. It is also called Himsagar Apartment.

In the notice issued by Hari Prakash, secretary of Himsagar Apartment, it is written, ‘All residents are members here. All of you are expected to pay special attention to your behavior and dress whenever you move around in the society. Don’t give anyone a chance to object to your behavior. Your boys and girls also learn from you. Therefore, it is requested to all that men should not leave the house wearing lungi and women wearing nightie, because this is the dress inside the house. Therefore, don’t move around in the society wearing lungi and nightie.

Some residents of Himsagar Apartment have supported this decision, while some people have also opposed it. According to some people, they feel uncomfortable going to places like parks with family. Some people are seen doing yoga in lungi only, which is not easy for women to see. Both men and women should pay attention to their dress inside and outside the house.
