Sixth World Congress on Disaster Management will be organized in Uttarakhand, experts from all over the world will gather

The 6th World Congress on Disaster Management will be organized in Uttarakhand. This event is proposed from 28 November to 01 December 2023 in Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the brochure of this sixth global conference on Friday. The theme of this Disaster Management Congress to be held in Uttarakhand is ‘STRENGTHENING CLIMATE ACTION & DISASTER RESILIENCE’. Innovation, cooperation and communication for disaster management will be discussed prominently in this World Congress. In this world congress, special focus will be on mountain ecology and communication. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand will get a new identity at the global level due to the sixth global conference on disaster management being held in Uttarakhand. He said that how to do disaster mitigation is a great need of the Himalayan states. In this conference, in-depth discussions will be held by experts on disaster reduction, how to minimize loss of life and property and use of scientific approach. He expected that when the rivers change course due to various reasons, there is a lot of loss of life and money, this will also be discussed by the experts in the conference.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand is a disaster sensitive state. Due to climate change, the nature of disasters is also changing, and now disasters are not limited only to the monsoon period. He said that experts from all over the world and people working in the field of disaster management in hilly areas would definitely participate in the sixth global conference on disaster management to be held in Dehradun and the state would be able to take advantage of their experiences.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that on this day, a decade ago, Kedarnath was hit by a severe natural disaster. With the master plan of Kedarnath Dham under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the reconstruction work has been done at a rapid pace. Many works are being done for the construction of grand and divine Kedarpuri. In the last 09 years, rapid reconstruction work has been done in Kedarnath.
On this occasion, Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Director General UCOST Pro. Durgesh Pant, President Disaster Management Initiative and Convergence Society (DMICS) Dr. S. Anand Babu, Executive Director of Uttarakhand Disaster Management Dr. Piyush Rautela and concerned officers were present.
