Uttar Pradesh / Pratapgarh: What did the bridegroom ask for, that the girls tied him to a tree?

The evil practice like dowry is slowly ending from the country, but even today some people have not been able to get out of their small mindedness. Even today, by demanding dowry, they not only reduce their respect, but also reduce the respect of those men who are strictly against dowry. The latest example of what happens to such people was recently seen in Pratapgarh. Here only a groom was taken hostage by the people. This incident is of Harakhpur village of Mandhata Kotwali in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh. In this incident that took place on June 14, the procession had come from Purva village of Jaunpur district. The groom’s name was Amarjit Verma, who had brought the procession with pomp and show along with his family and friends. The girls welcomed him a lot and the wedding rituals also started. But then the boy demanded dowry in the middle of the marriage.

Groom demanded dowry
Everyone knows that taking dowry is a legal offense in India, but when the groom demanded dowry, the girl’s parents were shocked. They explained and persuaded her family members including the groom, but when they remained adamant on taking dowry, the girl’s people took such a step that everyone was shocked. They took hostage all the baratis including the groom. A video related to this incident is also going viral on social media in which people are seen tying the groom to a tree. He too looks perplexed.
