Karnataka / Mandya: faith or superstition ? The villagers got two boys married, the whole village was given a feast for the marriage ceremony

In Karnataka’s Mandya district, two boys married each other to please Lord Indra. One boy became the bridegroom and the other the bride. Both were made to wear traditional clothes. A feast was also given to the entire village in the marriage ceremony held at Gangenahalli village of Krishnarajpet block. However, all this was somewhat symbolic. The villagers followed the age-old tradition of marriage and feast. All this happened only so that there could be good rains in the village this time.
People of Gangenahalli village said that Karnataka has received less rain so far this year as compared to last year. On Friday, the people of the village gathered and followed their age-old tradition of pleasing Lord Indra. We prayed to Lord Indra to give us good rain this time.
