Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023: India made a great start, recorded big wins over Korea and Chinese Taipei
The Indian men’s kabaddi team defeated Korea 76-13 and Chinese Taipei 53-19 in the Asian Championship. India’s next match will be against Japan on Wednesday. Defending champions India began their Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 campaign with wins over hosts Korea and Chinese Taipei in Busan on Tuesday. India played its first Kabaddi match of the day against Korea.
India beat Korea by a big margin
Championship debutant Aslam Inamdar, who replaces raider Naveen Kumar. Aslam scored a Super 10, due to which India won the match 73–13. The Indian men’s kabaddi team scored nine consecutive points before Korea opened their account. At the end of the first half, the score was 40-4, with India leading by 36 points. Korea scored nine points in the second half, but Korea was no match for India’s performance.
Tough competition against Chinese Taipei
India dismissed the hosts five times in the match. Surjit Narwal defended impressively and scored a total of seven tackle points. The Indian Kabaddi team, which has won seven out of the last eight Asian Kabaddi Championships, faced a slightly stronger challenge against Chinese Taipei in their second match of the day. Thanks to Sachin’s performance, India won the match 53–19.
Score came in favor of India in the half
At the start of the game, both the teams exchanged points and India was leading 7-6 by one point. However, India widened the gap with eight consecutive points, including an all-out in the 12th minute. At half time the score was 21-12 in favor of India.
Three all outs and consecutive points by India in the second half helped the team win the match by a margin of 34 points. The Indian Kabaddi team will take on Japan on Wednesday. India will take on 2003 champions Iran on Thursday.
