In the Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency, two veteran Congress leaders Harish Rawat and former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat are openly in the fray for the claim. For some time, the increased activism of both the veterans in the election field is being seen as a claim for the ticket. Senior Congress leader and former minister Harak Singh Rawat is again in discussion these days regarding his statements. This time again he has expressed his desire to contest the Loksabha election from Haridwar. He said that Harish Rawat has not even said from where he is contesting the election, while he has put his mind in front of everyone.

If the party orders, he will contest from Haridwar. Talking to the media, Harak said that he was not ready to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, yet the party gave him the ticket. But today he is fully prepared. He said that he is 200 percent sure of his victory.

Harak said that there was a time when he contested elections against many bigwigs and defeated them. He taunted that Harish Rawat lost Lok Sabha from Almora, Assembly from Lalkuan or Kichha and Haridwar, but it is also true that everyone knows him from Dharchula to Uttarkashi.
