Uttarakhand: Joint Director of Haryana Agriculture Department drowned in river Ganges, no trace yet

Jagraj, Joint Director of Haryana Agriculture Department, got swept away in the Ganges while taking a bath at the Sangam bank in Devprayag. He had reached for Ganga bath with his wife and daughter. During this, his leg suddenly slipped on the Sangam bank, after which this accident happened. The rescue team is looking for them, but no trace has been found so far.
Joint Director Gajraj Dandi, serving in the Haryana Agriculture Department and resident of Chandigarh, had reached Devprayag from Rishikesh on Thursday along with his wife and daughter. While taking bath on the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi river, as soon as he set his foot on a stone, he suddenly slipped. After this he got swept away in the strong current of the Ganges. Seeing this, his daughter and wife started shouting loudly.
Hearing the sound of shouting, a crowd of people gathered there and the police were informed. After this, joint teams of Thana Devprayag Police, Water Police Srinagar and NDRF reached the spot and started the investigation. But till late evening no trace of Jagraj could be found.
Inspector in-charge of Devprayag police station area Devraj Sharma told that a 22-member team of NDRF has left for the spot from Dehradun. This team will start the search operation from Friday morning.
