Uttarakhand: Disaster Management Secretary gave instructions to ensure GPS installation in all field vehicles
Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha has asked the Transport Department to ensure installation of GPS in all the field vehicles engaged in all the departments.
Disaster management plan should be ready
The Disaster Management Secretary made it clear that Disaster Control Room or Disaster Management Cell should be established in all the departments. The secretary has instructed all the departments to prepare their disaster management plan, to train the personnel working on the ground. Officers and personnel have been asked to become technically proficient, do GIC mapping of all the personnel posted in the field, prepare SOP and get it uploaded on the Disaster Management Department.

In view of monsoon, the Secretary took a review meeting of nodal officers in disaster management of all concerned departments in the Secretariat. The secretary also directed the Irrigation and CWC department to prepare flood management plan. The Secretary has also asked the concerned departments for identification of disaster-sensitive locations, GIC mapping, district-wise and block-wise information about deployment of personnel along with resources at all the places. In addition to clarifying the status of officers and personnel posted on the field, data of contact sources, resource mapping on the GIS platform, the Secretary inquired about the SOP of the departments in disaster management along with the use of technology in the departments in disaster management. Officials of NDRF, SDRF, Army, Health, PWD, Transport, Tourism, Food, Forest, Animal Husbandry and Information Department were present in the meeting.
Instructions given
- Adequate training to the personnel.
- Field personnel should get information about their roles.
- There should be digitization and analysis of last year’s figures.
- All vans operated by 108 service should have GIC mapping.
- All departments should be linked with the disaster control room.
