Uttarakhand: Leader of Opposition raised questions on Lokayukta and Uniform Civil Code, said- should be implemented with everyone’s consent

In Uttarakhand, following the instructions of the Uniform Civil Code and the High Court, the state government has started the action of the Lokayukta. In such a situation, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya has raised questions on Uniform Civil Code and Lokayukta. Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that Uniform Civil Code should be implemented in the state only after everyone’s consent.
He said that there are many types of castes and sub-castes in Uttarakhand. There are many tribes here including Tharu, Buxa, Bhotia, Jaunsari, they have their own distinct culture. He said that the opinion of all intellectuals should also be taken to implement the Uniform Civil Code. He said that there should be a collective dialogue with the minority society Christianity, Sikhism, Persian people. It also needs to be seen how the people who are in the Uniform Civil Code committee prepared the draft.
On the other hand, on the order given by the Nainital High Court regarding the formation of Lokayukta in the state in 8 weeks, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that the report of the formation of Lokayukta has been sent to the Select Committee, it should be discussed by calling a session of the Legislative Assembly. The order of the Nainital High Court should also be followed, such a consensus should be made. Because the formation of Lokayukta is very important for the state. Significantly, the exercise to implement Uniform Civil Code has been started in Uttarakhand. It is expected that the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented soon in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, the opposition has raised questions on the Uniform Civil Code.
