CM Dhami met Amit Shah in Delhi, speculations of cabinet reshuffle increased in Uttarakhand

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi late on Monday night. During his stay in Delhi, Chief Minister Dhami met the Home Minister at his residence and informed him about current affairs related to the state. Giving detailed information about the completion of the work on the draft of the Uniform Civil Code by the expert committee, the Chief Minister said that as soon as the government receives the report, the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the state by giving it a legal form. The Chief Minister’s meeting with the Union Home Minister is also being linked to the reshuffle or expansion of the state cabinet.

Center should give assistance of 1774 crores to Saung project: Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Monday and sought cooperation on important projects related to the state. He requested the Center to provide an amount of 1774 crores as special assistance for the Song Dam project.

The Chief Minister said that in view of the special circumstances and limited resources of Uttarakhand, the ceiling imposed on the loan amount of externally aided projects should be removed. He said that due to the increasing population of Dehradun, the demand for drinking water is continuously increasing rapidly. For this reason, dam drinking water project is proposed on Saung river, a tributary of Ganga, to provide continuous drinking water facility in future.

With the construction of this project costing a total of 2021 crores, drinking water will be available to about 10 lakh population of Dehradun city and its suburban areas. With the availability of 150 MLD drinking water through gravity, the city’s dependence on tube wells will almost end.

Three and a half km long lake, tourism will increase

The Chief Minister said that with the construction of the project, a 3.50 km long lake would be formed. This will increase tourism and also provide employment opportunities. It will also be beneficial from the environmental point of view. Another major benefit would be in the form of flood control. About 15 thousand population of 10 villages of Dehradun district will get protection from the floods coming in the Saung river. The Chief Minister informed that all necessary technical, forest land transfer stage-one and other necessary approvals related to the project have been obtained from the concerned departments or ministries.

The state government will bear the expenditure of Rs 247 crore for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the families affected by the project. Electricity strengthening scheme got approval Chief Minister Dhami said that the power lines in the main roads of Dehradun have to be made underground. Construction of electrical substations and lines is proposed to strengthen the state’s transmission system.

He lobbied for the approval of this scheme from the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. He also requested for fresh approval of previously approved projects on which work has not started. The Union Finance Minister assured all possible cooperation to the Chief Minister.
