Karnataka / Hubli: Negligence became the cause of death, hands were not washed before eating food, after spraying insecticide? Forest officer had to lose his life

A forest officer in Karnataka’s Hubli lost his life for forgetting to wash his hands before eating food after spraying pesticides. The deceased has been identified as Forest Officer Yogesh Nayak, a resident of Bada village in Kumta taluk. According to police sources, Nayak, working in the forest department in Virnoli division, had sprayed insecticide in the teak field on June 27 to clear weeds and insects. After this he forgot to wash his hands and ate lunch. The next day after returning home, the officer complained of heartburn.
He consulted a private doctor, who prescribed antibiotics. However, when the symptoms did not subside, Nayak moved to Hubli and got admitted in a hospital. Sources claimed that during the checkup, it was found that his vital organs like kidney, liver and lungs were damaged. He was later shifted to another hospital but by then Nayak had slipped into a coma.
The family shifted him to KIMS Hospital in Hubli for treatment. However, the officer succumbed to the infection on July 7. The officer is survived by wife and a child. The police have started investigation and said that they are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
