Maharashtra: 90 feet long bridge made of 6 thousand kg iron was stolen

Thieves stole a 90 feet long iron bridge in Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai. This bridge belonged to Adani Electricity Company and the weight of this bridge was 6 thousand kg. Thieves first cut this bridge with a gas cutter and then took it in a truck. With the registration number of this truck, the police reached the thieves. Police has arrested 4 people in this case.
An official from Bangur Nagar police station said that the 90-feet long metal structure in Malad (West) was put up by utility company Adani Electricity to pass huge electric cables. He said that after the permanent bridge was built over the nullah, the temporary structure was shifted to another place in the area a few months ago. The temporary bridge was found missing on June 26 following which the power company lodged a complaint with the police, the official said.
The workers who built the bridge turned out to be thieves
During investigation, the police found that Pul was last seen on June 6. As there were no CCTV cameras at the spot, the police scanned footage from surveillance cameras installed in the surrounding areas and found a large vehicle moving in the direction of the bridge on June 11, the official said. After this, the police traced the vehicle from its registration number.
“The vehicle had gas cutting machines, which were used to demolish the bridge and steal iron weighing 6,000 kg,” the officer said. After further investigation, the police traced an employee of the company that was given the contract to build the bridge. The official said the police had arrested the employee and his three associates last week. The stolen material has been recovered from the spot, he added.
