Schools closed due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand, holiday for 1 day in Dehradun and 3 days in Nainital

All government non-government schools will remain closed on Monday in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. District Magistrate Sonika Meena has issued orders in view of the alert. He has directed the Chief Education Officer that the orders should be followed at all costs. Also, timely information should be conveyed to the school management and family members. The District Magistrate has said in a strict tone that the orders should be followed at all costs, otherwise strict action will be taken.
According to the weather forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, Dehradun, between July 9 and 10, there is a possibility of lightning accompanied by thunder and heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dehradun district. In such weather, in view of moderate to heavy rainfall in all the areas of the district, the possibility of landslides increases in sensitive places. Due to this, any kind of untoward incident can happen, therefore, in view of disaster mitigation, one day holiday is declared on July 10 for all educational institutions and Anganwadi centers operating from class 1 to 12 of the district.
Chief Education Officer Dehradun and District Program Officer Dehradun have been directed to ensure compliance of the said order in all the above mentioned educational institutions and Anganwadi centres. Also, intermittent rains are continuing in Nainital district for the past several days. Due to this the water level of the rivers has increased. Due to the rains, water-logging is being seen at many places. In such a situation, the district administration has issued instructions for school leave for 3 days in view of the problems of parents and children.
After the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the District Magistrate of Nainital has declared a three-day holiday from July 10 to 13 in all Anganwadi centers and government and non-government schools. The DM has also issued orders for this.

In view of the weather forecast, Nainital District Magistrate Vandana Singh has declared a three-day holiday for classes I to XII in all Anganwadi centers and government and non-government schools in view of the safety of the students of the district. All schools in Nainital will remain closed till 13th July.
Meteorological Department issued red alert
According to Meteorological Director Vikram Singh, there are chances of heavy to very heavy rains in Dehradun, Tehri and Uttarkashi. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Pauri Garhwal, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat for the next three days. Along with this, there is a possibility of thunder and lightning at some places.
