Disaster became rain of relief! Kedarnath yatra stopped due to bad weather, Gangotri highway damaged

The problem is that due to heavy rains, rivers and streams are in spate, and due to cracks in the hills, incidents of landslides are coming to the fore. In this sequence, Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped due to heavy rains. At the same time, the road has been washed away due to the rise of Kheer Ganga in Dharali.

Passengers stopped at Sonprayag and Gaurikund
In view of the safety of the pilgrims who came for the Kedarnath Yatra, the district administration has stopped them at Sonprayag and Gaurikund. Kedarnath Yatra has been affected due to continuous bad weather. Four state roads and 10 link roads are closed due to debris. Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers are in spate.

Administration engaged in restoring the road
At the same time, the road has been washed away due to the rise of Kheer Ganga in Dharali on the national highway towards Gangotri. Uttarkashi district administration says that efforts are on for the last 12 hours to open the closed road amid heavy rains. In view of the IMD’s alert, the duty officer of the State Emergency Operation Center has asked the Tourism Development Council to take precautionary measures for the safety of the pilgrims during the Chardham Yatra.
