Uttarakhand: CS took the meeting of the committee formed for the operation of Himalayan Cultural Center, Garhikant Dehradun

Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu, the first meeting of the committee constituted for the operation of the Himalayan Cultural Center, Garhikant Dehradun was held in the secretariat on Wednesday. The Chief Secretary said that the Himalayan Cultural Center having theatre, exhibition space and largest auditorium in Dehradun along with good parking facility would prove to be highly useful. He said that attention should also be paid to its publicity so that it can be used more and more.
The Chief Secretary said that the Culture Department should organize workshops for the artists in the Himalayan Cultural Center itself. Minimum rent should be kept for organizing cultural programmes, exhibitions etc. He said that arrangements can be made for free entry to the exhibition for students and schools.
The Chief Secretary said that arrangement of a small food court should also be ensured around it, where dishes of hill and local products can be served. This will also give market to local products. He said that exhibitions organized by various departments can also be attracted to be organized here.
On this occasion, former Chief Secretary N. Ravi Shankar, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretary Hari Chandra Semwal and Director Culture Bina Bhatt were present.
