Uttarakhand: DM-SSP will land on the field during disaster relief, CM instructed to prepare drainage and flood management plan

Due to continuous heavy rains in Uttarakhand, a disaster-like situation has arisen in many areas. However, the process of heavy rains has not stopped yet, but according to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state for the next three days. Under this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday reviewed the disaster situation and relief-rescue works district-wise through video conferencing with high officials, commissioners, district magistrates and captains of the government.

The CM instructed the SSP and the District Magistrate to enter the field in relief and rescue operations at the time of disaster. Also said that during the disaster, all departments should work considering their responsibility in relief and rescue operations. He said that the officers should perform their duties with positive energy, because a big challenge like disaster can be faced only with mutual relations and cooperation. Not only this, during the meeting, CM Dhami also gave instructions to prepare effective and long-term plans for the drainage system and flood management of the cities.

CM Dhami thoroughly reviewed the water level of rivers, landslides, closed roads, loss of life and property and compensation with all the District Magistrates. Also instructed the officers that better arrangements should be made to open the rural roads along with the highways. During the meeting, CM Dhami said that the situation is under control in the state, but the challenge remains. In such a situation, everyone needs to be alert and active all the time.

During the meeting, the CM said that every year the form of disaster is also changing geographically in the state. Therefore, attention should be paid to preparing an action plan from this point of view also. CM Dhami said that there will be no shortage of funds for disaster relief works. He said that funds have been made available to all the District Magistrates according to their needs. Funds will be arranged further if needed.
