Uttarakhand: Rain wreaks havoc in Nainital, 22 roads including three highways closed

The continuous rains in the state for the last five days have thrown normal life out of gear. From the mountains to the plains, there is a situation of landslides and waterlogging. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, there are chances of heavy to very heavy rains in the state for the next three days. For which Orange Alert has been issued.
Instructions given to officers to be on alert
Nainital District Magistrate Vandana Singh said that in view of the heavy rains, instructions have been issued to all the officers of police and administration to remain on alert for 24 hours. Along with this, instructions have also been given to inspect the officers at sensitive places from time to time. On the other hand, in view of the rains in the landslide-affected areas, immediate action has been asked to maintain constant contact with the people and to relocate them.
22 roads closed including three highways
Nainital District Magistrate Vandana Singh said that 22 roads including three highways are closed in the district. Which are being opened with the help of JCB. Apart from this, the Kathgodam Hedakhan road was also blocked due to debris. After which JCB has been deployed to remove the debris immediately.
Funds released for all tehsils of the district
The DM said that 44 JCBs have been deployed at different places in the district, which are working to clear the roads as soon as they are blocked. Apart from this, the District Magistrate said that to deal with the disaster, an amount of four crores has been released to all the tehsils of the district.
