India got angry on this proposal of Europe, said- “Stay within range, interference in internal affairs will not be tolerated”
The European Union has done such an act which has angered India. Rejecting the European Union’s proposal, India has advised it not to interfere in its internal affairs. In fact, the European Union had brought a resolution regarding the violence in Manipur. But India on Thursday rejected the resolution passed in the Parliament of the European Union on the status of Manipur, terming it inspired by ‘colonial mindset’. In this resolution, the Brussels-based Parliament of the European Union strongly urged the Indian authorities to immediately stop the violence in Manipur and take necessary measures for the protection of all minorities.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said that such interference in India’s internal affairs is unacceptable. Bagchi said, “We have seen that the current situation in Manipur was discussed in the Parliament of the European Union and a so-called urgent resolution was passed. This kind of interference in India’s internal affairs is unacceptable and reflects the colonial mindset. The MEA spokesperson said Indian authorities at all levels, including the judiciary, are aware of the situation in Manipur and are taking necessary steps to maintain peace, harmony and law and order. Responding to reporters’ questions regarding the proposal, he said, “The EU Parliament would be well advised to use its time more productively on its internal issues.”
European Union had said this in the proposal regarding minorities
The European Union Parliament on Thursday passed a resolution on the human rights situation in India in the wake of the recent violence in Manipur. The EU resolution also accused India of intolerance towards minority communities leading to the current situation. Apart from this, concerns have been expressed about ‘politically motivated’ policies in the resolution. It also mentioned the shutdown of internet service in Manipur. According to a release issued by the European Union, some members of the European Parliament also urged the Indian authorities to allow an independent investigation. He also urged all the conflicting parties to stop making provocative statements, restore mutual trust and play a neutral role to reduce tensions. It added that the European Parliament reiterated its call to integrate human rights into all areas of the EU-India partnership, including trade.
