US Open: PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen win easily in first round, Shankar Subramanian upsets

Coming off the back of Canada Open title, Lakshya Sen and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu have entered the second round of the US Open Badminton Super 300 tournament. Meanwhile, B Sai Praneeth was defeated by All England champion Li Shi Feng in a three-game struggle. Qualifier Shankar Subramanian caused an upset by defeating Ireland’s Nahat Nguyen.

Lakshya defeated Kale Koljonen of Finland 21-8, 21-16 in just 30 minutes. Sindhu defeated Indian-American shuttler Disha Gupta 21-15, 21-12 in 27 minutes.
