IND vs WI: Team India shines on WTC points table, first win made number-1

The Indian team has started the third cycle of the World Test Championship with a bang. The first match of the 2-match Test series between India and West Indies was played in Dominica, where the visiting team defeated West Indies by an innings and 141 runs. With this victory in 3 days, Rohit & Co. have gone 1-0 ahead in the 2-match series. Not only this, Team India has also reached the first position in the points table of the World Test Championship. Now what can be a better start than this.

So far only 4 teams have played matches in the third season of the Test Championship. Before India, the Australia cricket team captained by Pat Cummins was present at the first position. Now Team India is first with 100 win percentage, Australia is second with 61.11 win percentage and England is third with 27.78 percent. The name of the Caribbean team comes at number four, who have no points.

Let us tell you that in the World Test Championship, every team is given 12 points for winning each match. While 4 points will be given if the match is drawn and 6 points if the match is tied. If we talk about percentage of points, then 100 points are given for winning the match, 50 for the tie, 33.33 for the draw. The losing team gets nothing. All the teams are decided on the basis of percentage of points.

The second Test match between India and West Indies will be played in Trinidad from 20 July. If Team India is successful in winning that match too, then it will remain on top with 24 points and 200 percentage. Let us tell you that two finals of the World Test Championship have been played so far and both times India made it to the finals. The final was played between India and New Zealand in 2021, where the Kiwi team defeated India by 8 wickets. While in the 2023 WTC Final, Team India had to face a 209-run defeat against Australia. If the Indian team has to cut the ticket for the final for the third time in a row, then it will have to show the same strong game in the upcoming matches.
