Shameful case in Odisha! Drunk ate half burnt body of young girl, 2 arrested

In a shocking incident, two men were caught eating human flesh at a cremation ground in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. People thrashed him fiercely and then handed him over to the police. Local residents found them stealing body parts from pyres and later eating them at the cremation ground in Barsahi village of Pratappur gram panchayat. The victim’s family says that our daughter died due to illness. She was cremated but two people took out the meat from the pyre of the daughter and started eating it.

According to information, a 25-year-old woman named Madhusmita Singh had died after falling ill on Tuesday. Later, after the post-mortem, his body was handed over to the relatives. The matter came to light when the villagers saw the two taking pieces of a dead body at the cremation ground and later eating them. According to the villagers, Sundar Mohan Singh and Narendra Singh of the same village were seen eating human flesh left over from dead bodies at the cremation ground and saw several pieces of flesh in their hands. After this the villagers thrashed both of them for this inhuman act and informed the local police about the incident.

Both the accused were intoxicated

As soon as the information was received, the police reached the village and took both of them into custody. During police interrogation, both Sundar and Narendra confessed to being drunk and having eaten the half-burnt flesh of the dead body. He also admitted to losing his senses due to being drunk and eating leftover burnt meat. Barsahi IIC Sanjay Kumar Parida said, “Based on the complaint of villagers, two people have been detained in this connection. Further investigation of the matter is on.”
